December 2019 - When Icicles Hang

with the South East Sinfonia

A sparkling evening of seasonal works from the 15th to the 21st century. The concert was titled after the piece composed by John Rutter and also included music by Vaughn Williams, Bob Chilcott and Berlioz. The soloists were Stephen Charlesworth (baritone) and Alex Haigh (tenor). This was the first concert under our new MD, Sebastian Charlesworth and was very well received.  The programme can be viewed here

May 2019 - Brahms' REQUIEM

With the Camerata of London

A very moving evening, marking the retirement of our long-standing MD Brian Newman. Also included works by Elgar, Vaughan Williams and Fauré. Soloists were Ella de Jongh and Thomas Niesser. February 2019 - Raise the Roof - Again!

A concert in support of East Hoathly Church

December 2018 - WASSAIL!

Christmas concert at All Saints' Church, Old Heathfield

A light hearted evening to end the year. Included excerpts from Vivaldi's "Gloria", carols and other popular music. Plus some audience participation! Download a programme here.

November 2018 - Remembrance and Hope

A special concert on November 10th to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armistice

The first performance in East Sussex of Laura Rossi's "Voices of Remembrance", followed in the second half by Goodall's "Eternal Light". Soloists were Ella de Jongh, Gary Marriott and Sebastian Charlesworth. A copy of the programme can be downloaded here.

Spring 2018 - Thyme for Singing

Joint concert with Heathfield Youth Drama

A selection of of modern and traditional songs including John Rutter's "The Sprig of Thyme" and a medley from "Les Miserables". A copy of the programme can be downloaded here. With the Camerata of London

April 2017 - AHOY! Sing for the Mary Rose

A lighthearted children's concert, accompanied by a jazz band

This informal concert was a joint venture with the choirs from Cross-in-Hand and Burwash primary schools. We were supported by the composer, the splendidly enthusiastic Alexander L'Estrange and his band. Read the review here, or download the programme here.

December 2016 Christmas Concert

With Gavin Stevens on piano, and Rebecca Woodward on oboe

Geoffrey Bush's "Christmas Cantata" was the main work, along with other festive pieces. The soloists were Ansy Boothroyd and Nick Gee. To download the programme click here.

November 2016 - New York

Carnegie Hall

HCS was invited to sing as part of Distinguished Choirs International's series of concerts at the Carnegie Hall in New York, along with other choirs from the UK and the US. Almost thirty members made the trip, and performed Howard Goodall's "Eternal Light", as well as enjoying a long weekend in the city! For photos, click here.

Spring Concert 2016

With the Camerata of London

Karl Jenkins' "The Armed Man" mad up the first half, while in the second we gave the first East Sussex performance of Howard Goodall's "Every Purpose Under the Heaven". Soloists were Claire Lees and Aiden Coburn. For a copy of the programme click here.

December 2015 - Gala Christmas Concert

With the Buxted Symphony Orchestra

The programme included Vaughan Williams' "Fantasia on Christmas Carols", Mozart's Horn Concert # 3 and other Christmas pieces. The soloist was Michael White, with Sarah Johnson (horn), Helen Hankey (harp) and Christina Kearley (trumpet). Download the programme here.

October 2015 - AIDA

A Southdowns Opera production

May 2015 - an nautical themed concert

With Ensemble Orquestra

The main item was Vaughan William's "Sea Symphony", along with Sumsion's "They that go down to the sea", plus various orchestral pieces. The soloists were Kathryn Sargent and Michael Bunting. For programme, click here.

May 2014 Handel's DIXIT DOMINUS

With a specialist early music orchestra

This concert was lead by guest conductor Michael Fields and featured Evelyn Tubb as soprano soloist in Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas", which comprised the first half of the programme.  For photos, click here. For programme click here.

December 2013 - Sleepers, Wake!

A concert for Advent

Poulenc's "Gloria" was the main work, along with Bach's "Wachet Auf" and other popular choruses and carols. 

May 2013 Mozart & Vaughan Williams

With the Camerata of London

Vaughan Williams' "Towards the Unknown Region" and Mozart's Clarinet Concerto made up the first half, followed after the interval by Mozart's "Requiem". Soloists were Kathryn Sargent, Sara Gourlay, Gary Marriott and Michael White. Download a copy of the programme here.

December 2012 - Christmas Classics

A programme for choir and audience, with the Camerata of London

The programme contained Vivaldi's "Gloria" along with excerpts from "Messiah" and Schutz's "Christmas Story". Soloists were Dawn Taylor, Grace Constable and Sara Gourlay.

With Southdowns Opera

With Gavin Stevens on the organ

Vaughan Williams' "Fantasia on Christmas Carols" and Eric Niman's "The Nativity" were the main works, along with carols for the audience. Soloists were Dawn Taylor, Nick Howard and Peter Claridge. A copy of the programme can be found here.

With the Camerata of London

With the Camerata of London

Schubert's "Mass in G", Brahms' "Song of Destiny" and Mendelssohn's "Lauda Sion" were the main works, with Grace Constable, Dawn Taylor, Gary Marriott and Adrian White as soloists. A copy of the programme can be found here.

Carol Concert 2009

A programme of carols for choir and audience.

Helen Parsons played the clarinet, with the Parish Pealers on handbells. A programme can be found here.

November 2009 - ETERNAL LIGHT

With Gavin Stevens on piano, and Ray Maulkin on organ

Soloists were Kathryn Sargent and Michael Bunting. Amongst other items on the programme were Vaughan Williams' "Five Mystical Songs". A copy of the programme can be found here.

May 2009 - Rossini's MESSE SOLENNELLE

With Gavin Stevens on piano and James Lloyd Thomas on harmonium

December 2008 - Charpentier and Bush

With Gavin Stevens on organ and piano.Thi

Charpentier's " Messe de Minuit" and Bush's "Christmas Cantata" were the main works, along with a number of popular Christmas carols. The soloists were Gill Stevens, Dawn Taylor, Marion Underwood, Viv Durne, Nick Howard and Martin Clay. The programme can be found here.

Spring 2008 - Vivaldi, Bach, Tavener and Duruflé

With the Camerata of London

Vivaldi's "Gloria" and Concerto for two trumpets, along with Duruflé's "Requiem" were the main works, along with Bach's Cello Suite # 2 (played by Andrew Benson). The trumpeters were Edward Maxwell and Richard Hammond. For a programme click here.

March 2008 EADCA Grand Concert

Held at The Kings Centre in Eastbourne

HCS formed part of the Eastbourne Festival Chorus performing Karl Jenkins'  "The Armed Man" and John Rutter's "Requiem". The soloist was Grace Constable, and it was accompanied by the Camerata of London. For a copy of the programme, click here.
