Concert - Fauré Requiem

and Rutter Requiem

Fauré’s requiem is noted for its calm, serene and peaceful outlook rather than the sombre nature of many requiems that had gone before. It includes the glorious Pie Jesu, Agnus Dei and In Paradisum, filled with rich, soulful melodies.

Rutter’s requiem is considered reminiscent of the Fauré Requiem for its simplicity, brevity and rich choral writing. The gloriously pure Pie Jesu is a real highlight – as is the Requiem Aeternam, which opens the work.

Concert - JF Haydn

The Seasons

One of Haydn’s last major works, The Seasons depicts the yearly cycle of life in the countryside through the eyes of three peasants, providing music of thrilling vitality and creativity.

Essentially a series of lovingly painted frescoes that fuse pastoral innocence with sophisticated harmonic and orchestral language.
